MLB: Cincinnati (Cueto) at Colorado (Chacin) under 9
So far so good for the Reds who continue to hold off the slumping Cards in the NL Central. Tonight, Cinncy’s Johnny Cueto toes the rubber and he’s 1-0 with a nasty 1.29 ERA in his last two starts. The Rockies counter with Chacin who is 2-0 with a 1.89 ERA in his L3 as Colorado (11-4 L15) starts its anual late run. Both pitchers have yet to be seen by tonight’s opposing lineups so the starters should have the upper hand through at least six innings. If starters form hold and pens do not implode, runs will be hard to come by and this one sails under the total.

MLB: Angels (Weaver) at A’s (Cahill) Under 8.5
The Angels and the A’s both send out their aces in Jared Weaver (11-10, 3.12) and Trevor Cahill (14-6, 2.82). It’s the same old story for Weaver, he’s lost three straight starts, the Angels shit out in all three. The under is 18-8 in the Halo’s righty 26 starts. Cahill was spanked at Yankee Stadium in his last, the first time he’s been really rocked all year. He has a 1.84 ERA at home, the Under a perfect 10-0. Runs figure to be at a premium here. Play the Under.

MLB: San Diego (Luebke) -141 Over Colorado (Cook)
Betting first time starters “In the Blind” has been a tried and true “system”for “older” cappers for almost three decades. It’s startling successful and you can follow up by fading these pitchers in their second start if they were to win.
We have a perfect spot tonight with the struggling Padres at home versus the resurgent Colorado Rockies.
Tonight’s Friar starter, Cory Luebke is 10-1 with a 2.68 ERA in 17 starts split between AA and AAA. He’s a southpaw and the Padres has have won the last meetings of the series throwing lefties versus Colorado.
The Rockies Aaron Cook is 0-3 in his L3 starts with a disturbing 13.98 whip and horrific 3.003 whip. In those three starts he’s lasted just nine innings allowing 29 baserunners (23 hits) and 15 earned runs. This is the epitome of chuck and duck.
Sure the Padres have lost seven straight but those were to a pissed off Philly team that had just been swept in their own house by Houston and a loose an easy DBack bunch simply playing out the string.
The Rockies are a different animal on the road and come off three games in San Francisco where they scored a combined five runs. If Luebke is anything at all, and we think he his, it will be a couple of times through the lineup to nail this guy down.
Betting first-time starters in the blind has been highly profitable for me over the last 20+ years. Don’t miss these sports in September as you’ll have plenty of opportunities thanks to the 40 man call up.

MLB: Florida (Volstad) -150 over Washington (Olsen)
The Nats and Fish are playing out the string but if last night’s 1-0 extra-inning win by Florida is any indication, neither team has quit. The home team has a huge edge in starting pitching tonight as Nat starter Scott Olsen has thrown batting practice the last month going 0-5 with an 8.37 ERA. He lost 9-5 to the Marlins back on August 11th giving up seven earned while registering just five outs. Florida’s Chris Volstad is 2-0 with a 1.93 ERA in his last pair and is 3-0 this year against the Nasty Nats. If current form holds, the Marlins are easy winners.

Friday, August 27, 2010 MLB: Boston (Lester) +110 over Tampa Bay (Price)
The Red Sox have picked Tampa Bay as the place to make their “Last Stand”. Jon Lester steps in for DiceK to face Ray ace David Price as Beantown looks to sweep this key three game set. Lester rocks nasty 1.88 ERA in his last six roadies. Price is 4-0 in his L6 but has been the beneficiary of strong support based on ho-hum 3.68 ERA. BoSox are 10-5 on turf and 11-5 L16 as a road dog at this price. More coincidence than trend, the Rays an awful 3-16 in L19 Friday games. Put up or shut up for Boston, take the Red Sox.

MLB: NY Mets (Dickey at Houston (Myers) Under 7:00 PM EST
The Mets RA Dickey is making a great case for comeback player of the year. The ligamentless knuckleballer has carried the Mets on his back this summer coming from nowhere to post 8-5 record with a 2.43 ERA and should have more wins in the bank with any type of run supports and a little help from his friends in the pen. Bret Myers (8-7, 3.13) has been super on a rotten Astros club all year and has arguably been the best starter in baseball this summer. Rewarded with sweet deal last month, he continues to pitch great. With these offenses, the first one to three wins here. Play the Under.

MLB: San Francisco (Cain) at Houston (W Rod) over 7 2:05 PM EST
Prefer a little extra juice with the seven here, you don’t pay juice when you win anyway. The Giants Matt Cain is razor sharp but not the luckist guy in the world and just 1-2 with a 3.90 LT ERA vs the Astros. Wandy Rodriguez is throwning batting practice at 0-3 with a 10.20 ERA in his L3. WRod has 8.36 LT ERA against the Giants in limited opportunities and could give this number up by himself. Plays Giants/Asros Over the total.

MLB: Under 8.5 Cubs (Zambrano) at Milwaukee (Wolf) 8:00 PM
Carlos Zambrano made his first start for the Cubs since April 20th and was OK allowing three runs over 4 2/3 innings. Big Z should stretch it out some here. Soriano is doubtful and Aramis Ramirez is on the shelf leaving Blue Bears with little to no pop. ChiCubs are 18-8 under on the road, 19-6 under at night, and 12-4 low off southpaws. Randy Wolf was 2-0 in 2009 vs Cubs allowing just two earned on eight hits in 14+ innings work. Barring total meltodown by pens, this should one should come nowhere near the posted total. Play Under.
The Mack Attack cashed his MLB Play of the Day with the Twins, never-in-doubt after touching up Royals for three-spot in the first. DMack has your back with his National League Total of the Month, an under-the-radar gimme that’s as good as a Cashiers Checque. It’s this easy … just pick, click, cash !!!

MLB: Under 8.5 Detroit (Galarraga) at WSox (Floyd) 8:00 PM
Armando Galaragga is 2-1 with a 2.87 ERA that in all reality is skewed by one bad start at the Dodgers. Comes off “Perfect Game” one-hitter in his last, he’s seemingly unflappable and handled the situation better than anyone could in that situation. Pale Hose starter Gavin Floyd is 2-6 with a 6.64 ERA but he’s owned the Twins with a 5-0 LT mark in 12 starts and the last meeting in the Cell, Floyd pitched eight innings of four hit, one run ball, choking out the Twinkies. Side dicey at best and wouldn’t want either side but the low rates a look here in a game where runs could be tough to come by. Play the Under.
Fresh of his Finals Game of the Year winner on the Celtics in Game II, the Mack Attack has your back with another slam dunk winner in Game III. Watch and Win on ABC and if you do not cash your ticket, you get Thursday’s Game IV absolutely free. Your biggest worry tonight is getting from the cashier to your car! Just pick, click, and cash!
